NetCom Learning partnership to support BRAC schools NetCom Learning, a U.S. based company founded by Bangladeshi entrepreneur Russell Sarder offering IT, business and executive training services, wanted to help provide education for children in disadvantaged communities around the world. Thanks to its "Love of Learning" program launched last month, every new class registrant at NetCom Learning will support a year's education for one child in a BRAC school. NetCom Learning and BRAC expect to be able to raise funds to open a minimum of 30 new pre-primary schools for children in the coming months thanks to clients and partners in the Love of Learning program.

American Standard partnership to support safer sanitationAlmost half the world lacks a safe way to go to the bathroom. BRAC and American Standard have joined forces to help reduce the 2,000 unnecessary deaths a day worldwide due to poor sanitation systems. For every Champion Toilet from American Standard purchased in 2013, the company will donate a "Safe Toilet" (SaTo), a cost effective hygienic latrine pan, developed in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and iDE, which uses an ingeniously simple mechanism to reduce disease transmission by closing off pit latrines from the open air.Click here for a short video about American Standard's SaTo (pictured above) Click here to learn about BRAC's network of “sanitation entrepreneurs” |
Chevron partnership to launch poultry social enterprise in Liberia BRAC Liberia launched a poultry hatchery and feed mill social enterprise last month in Liberia's Grand Bassa County. The groundbreaking project, funded jointly by the European Commission and Chevron, is the first hatchery and feed mill since the end of the civil war in 2003, and will bring much-needed affordable inputs to Liberia’s small farmers. The social enterprise engages 40 staff and 200 community livestock and poultry promoters, immediately benefiting 300 farmers, and creating employment and livelihood opportunities to strengthen the country’s poultry sector.
